Shaping the Future of Identity Together with the City of Zurich
Berlin, May 8, 2025 – iC Consult, the world’s leading independent consultancy, systems integrator, and managed services provider for Identity & Access Management, is honored to announce that our client, the City of Zurich, has won the European Identity and Cloud Award 2025 in the category Enterprise IAM by KuppingerCole Analysts – for their joint IAM initiative “MIAMI” (Modern Identity & Access Management Infrastructure).
The MIAMI project marks a major step forward in the City of Zurich’s digital transformation. Designed to unify a fragmented legacy landscape, MIAMI delivers a scalable Identity Fabric that covers all audiences, ranging from G2x (CIAM for citizens, business and government) and B2x (EIAM): the new service securely connects internal staff, service accounts, citizens, businesses, and government partners. Built on SailPoint IIQ and Ping Identity, and deployed as a Private IAM-as-a-Service solution with Service Layers based on Zurich’s container platform, the solution stands out through its automation, flexibility, and compliance readiness. With over 35.000 internal identities and hundreds of thousands of external users, MIAMI sets a new standard for public sector IAM.

Stefan Nüesch, Sales Director Switzerland at iC Consult, comments:
“It is a privilege to support the City of Zurich on their identity transformation journey. MIAMI is a truly pioneering initiative – designed to meet complex public sector needs while delivering scalable, secure, and user-centric IAM services. This award highlights the strength of our collaboration and the shared vision that made it possible.”
Thomas Burkart, Head of Application Management at the City of Zurich, says:
“Modernizing identity and access management across such a diverse environment was no small task. With MIAMI, we’ve laid the foundation for secure digital interaction across all user groups – from employees to citizens and beyond. Working with iC Consult has enabled us to bring this vision to life with technical excellence and strategic foresight.”

Andreas Cazin, Product Owner at OIZ Organisation und Informatik of the City of Zurich, adds:
“We are honored to receive this award, which distinguishes the particular complexity we had to address with our project. The City of Zurich consists of 9 divisions and over 80 departments, each with unique requirements ranging from administrative departments to bluelight organizations such as the police and fire department to utilities, and through to the City’s hospitals. Although we had to consider many different needs and a wide range of use cases, the foundations for MIAMI have been successfully delivered already, and the value delivered by the new solution increases further as the staged rollout to all departments is proceeding. A big thank you to the entire project team and everyone involved in turning our MIAMI vision into reality.”
iC Consult remains committed to driving innovation in Identity & Access Management, helping organizations of all sizes master digital transformation with secure, scalable, and future-ready identity solutions. The European Identity and Cloud Award 2025 reflects the power of strong partnerships and shared vision, and inspires us to continue shaping the future of identity.
